stardog Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Hi all, I'm a graduating senior who will be starting a job next year doing something related to statistics/business. My employer offers tuition reimbursement, so I was planning on working towards a masters degree part time over a few years at a nearby university, not too well ranked in either math or stats. I'm coming from an undergrad math background also. I'm wondering, would it matter whether or not I got my MS in math or stats if I was applying to top PhD programs in a few years? The math dept. at this school has a better course selection and faculty from what I can gather. The math degree would also help towards preparing for the math GRE. Thanks
DMX Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Would suggest Math (but of course, take some stats courses. measure theoretic probability, inference, etc.)
