doctoralgrad23 Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 For international applicants It is really hard see the rising or declining programs. I add UGA SPIA in my PhD application list. It is ranked #48 in USNews. However, I want to hear any detailed thoughts on program(especially in IR subfield) rather than ranking. Is it a rising program? Methodology? I am interested in International Security and Realist IR theory. I examined the research interests of the faculty. However, I am not sure does it really fit my interest.

I can offer no advice on whether it is a 'rising' program, but if you're not sure whether the program fits your interest it shouldn't matter yet. Does the faculty and program allow you to pursue your research interests, or topics you could imagine yourself working on in the future? That's the question you need to answer first

Just an FYI, their deadline for applying for funding is Nov. 15... I'm not sure if that absolutely precludes folks getting their apps in later from funds or not, but did want to put that on your radar.
TheGnome Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Hey RLemkin, I just saw your signature. Considering you are interested in neoclassical realism, did you consider applying to Ohio State as well? Randall Schweller is there as far as I know. This was off topic, so I apologize from doctoralgrad23.
