aurelialight
I am about to take my second GRE on the 25th. For those of who you have taken the GRE multiple times, did the experimental section switch up on you? Such as getting the quantitative section as the experimental second on your first GRE, and then having the verbal as experimental on the second and so on? I'm very curious to know. Thanks! Guest Gnome Chomsky
Yeah, it switches up every time. You'll either do 3 math and 2 verbal or 3 verbal and 2 math. They make it so you'll have done 2 and 2 by the time the 5th and final section comes up. Even then, you'll know which section had the experimental but you won't know which of the 3 were the experimental. What does it matter? (if you don't mind me asking)
aurelialight
Well I had major test anxiety during the first one. I had three quantitative and two verbal sections. By the time I got to the last section which was quantitative, I got really frustrated because I felt like I didn't really do well on all of the quantitative sections. Lo and behold, my quantitative score didn't even meet the minimum score to get into the graduate program I want. I just need to know how the test is arranged so I can know what to expect next time to reduce my test anxiety.
Cesare
I had 3 quant and 2 verbal both times. They do not switch it up based on what you got before. It is completely randomized. SportPsych30
tj_k
I had 3 quant and 2 verbal both times. Ya, it appears to be totally randomized. It also appears that after the two writing sections the immediate next section (Q or V) you get is the one that will have 3 sections. Is this correct from other people's experiences also? Good luck! pohks
It also appears that after the two writing sections the immediate next section (Q or V) you get is the one that will have 3 sections. Is this correct from other people's experiences also? Good luck! This applied to my test, too. After the AW section, I had a verbal section, and there were 3 verbal and 2 quantitative sections in my test (I would have preferred the other way around lol). Guest Gnome Chomsky
Not for me. I had a verbal right after my writing sections, and I ended up having 3 quantitatives.
aurelialight
Well it seems that the exam is truly varied. Thanks for the insight!
