Spelled a name wrong in my reference list...

UGH! When I copied my research proposal from google docs to word, it decided that Czech names should not have vowels. Since they are Czech, which I do not speak, I did not notice the misspellings. This proposal has already been sent to 3 universities. A prof that knows the author personally pointed out the error to me this morning. Do you think all the other places will notice?

yes they'll probably notice.....when you say sent out, was this done electronically? or is it a physical copy'?

call and tell them you need to edit your SOP. If they say no, ask them you want to withdraw your application and reapply. But you might have to repay the application fee. And of course this will only be possible if it is before the application deadline

 

I tried to do that for G tech. I wanted to edit my SOP and the woman was a complete and utter bitch. She just didnt care and told me "Its going to cost you another $50 so you want to it?"...made it seem she had better things to do than speak to me on the phone even though im quite sure all she does is answer telephone calls.

 

sorry about the rant lol.. Just warning you that you might get the same treatment.

Call up/email whoever is in charge of your file and just say the same thing you did to us. They should understand and allow you to resubmit the corrected file.

Thanks for the advice. I called them and everyone was really nice about letting me resubmit it, so hopefully it won't hurt my applications that I had to do that.

Glad that it worked out. The profs that haven't seen your old file yet might not even know there was a correction made!
