wall21 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Hey Guys, Senior undergraduate psychology student applying to General MA programs as a stepping stone to an eventual Clinical Psych PhD or Biopsych PhD (want to do well in graduate coursework, all other parts of application strong). I have a decent list of schools in the Northeast, but can anyone give a somewhat in depth list of General MA programs in the Midwest and West coast, and the general reputation of the school in that region? For example, I have heard of DePaul University's MA program, but I cannot properly gauge its standing/ rank amongst other programs in the Chicago and Midwest area. Any insight is greatly appreciated!
PsychGirl1 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Why wouldn't you also consider MS programs? Lisa44201 1
Lisa44201 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Agree w. PsycgGirl1. Particularly, look at programs with a Thesis option. Ranking Master's programs is difficult; a school might have a great I/O program, and a not-so-great clinical program. How a school ranks locally might not correlate with the actual quality of the program.
wall21 Posted November 18, 2013 Author Posted November 18, 2013 Ah, sorry. Should've been clearer. So MA/ MS programs are both on my radar. And you're right- reputation can vary depending on the area of focus in the program. I guess my question was what are some of those well funded General/ Experimental Psychology terminal MA/MS degrees in the Midwest and West Coast?
