Munashi Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I noticed one of my schools has my GRE scores listed as missing. I thought this was odd, since I requested them to be sent back in October. Turns out, stupid me overlooked instructions to NOT include a department code. I did. I have paid to re-send the scores without a department code (placed the order yesterday, November 20th) but the deadline is December 1 and "all supporting materials" must be in by that date. With Thanksgiving next week, I'm scared I might be S.O.L. (S*** out of luck). I have emailed the admissions office to let them know what happened, but they are closed for the day. Is there anything else I can do? I hate to think I waste an application fee and screwed myself out of a chance at an acceptance because of such a stupid error... Blah.
Cesare Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 They should have received them irrelevant of whether you included a department code or not. Maybe it has not been processed by the school yet? Munashi 1
Cesare Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) If it makes you feel any better, when I applied to this one school I panicked that the GRE score wasn't received, so much so that I ordered a second report THEN emailed them about it. The secretary had said it wasn't PROCESSED yet. I wasted $25 dollars. I sent it the first time with a department code and the second without. All you can do now is just wait for an e-mail from them. Loric Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I did the same thing with a transcript - reordered and it was processed by the end of the next day. Live and learn. Also, if your school is on quarters, they're on a short vacation right now (or will be, so lots of people take off early, especially office staff.) Munashi 1
fuzzylogician Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 It's probably perfectly fine if the scores are a bit late. You could perhaps ask if it's possible to scan and submit a copy of your unofficial scores so they have something to look at until the official ones arrive. But generally, I don't think you should expect your application to be doomed or the money lost. Schools normally don't start looking at the applications immediately after the deadlines because some things come late through no fault of the applicant (notoriously, letters might be submitted late), so there is some tolerance of this kind of mishap.
