Statement of Purpose and Personal History statement examples?

Hey all,

 

I'm in the process of writing my Statement of Purpose and Personal History statement, but I haven't really been able to find some solid examples of letters that people have actually used to apply. Would anyone here have any examples that I would be able to take a look at? It would help me immensely in putting together my statement and seeing if what I have is on the right track. I am looking for either example Statement of Purposes or Personal History statements.

 

I am applying to Sociology Ph. D programs, but would like to look at statements from any field.

I'd also recommend picking up Donald Asher's book "Graduate Admissions Essays" if you can. Lots of great advice and tons of examples to skim through.
