jiayangw
Hi, I am applying for Phd in Statistics. From my previous Masters program I had a disciplinary probation for downloading copyrighted digital contents (movies, etc.). The probation was lifted right after my graduation but the record remains there. I am pretty sure that I should report this if asked in the application but I am wondering how much would it affect my application? Any comments would be appreciated. Loric
Only mention it if they ask. If they're going to look, they'll see it, and there's really nothing you can say that will make it look better. Many applications require you to disclose something like this. It's not an instant "rejection" but it's not going to be seen in your favor. Not disclosing it if they ask IS an instant rejection.
