SamStone Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Hey— I am applying to UC Santa Cruz, and they have a 6,000 word limit for writing samples. I am finalizing my writing sample for the application and need to cut some sections short in order to fit within the restrictions Is it safe to assume that footnotes aren't included in word count? Or are footnotes generally included? Thanks!
Loric Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Are you submitting a certain document type..? Like a DOC, DOCX, etc..? If so, just use the tool that counts words. They'll do the same. Whatever it counts, they'll count.

I was unsure too so I just kept it under the limit including the references and appendix just to be safe! Edited December 20, 2013 by LesSoc
