Hi there,

I am a French student and I will soon apply to Ford Dorsey program in International Policy Studies at Stanford but I have a problem with my transcripts. In addition to uploading them on the platform, they ask applicants to mail "two official original copies" of the transcripts. The application deadline is January 8th and I think I will not be able to send them two copies before the deadline but maybe a few days after... Indeed, I have one copy I can send them right now but I need to wait until January 7th to get at least another copy.

What would you advise me to do? Should I send them one original copy only? Or should I wait until January 7th, but this implies they will receive it after January 8th?

I am asking you this also because in the application timeline on their website they say the following:

- January: Applications are processed; applicants can view the status of their application on the 'Checklist', within the application system; and will be notified if their application is incomplete or missing information

-February: Admissions committee reviews applications

Send one as soon as you can, then send the other (or send two the second time if it's inexpensive to prevent any confusion). That's what I'd do, but I advise you call them. None of us here will know program specific answers.

I wouldn't stress since they already should have digital copies as part of the application. My transcripts haven't gotten there yet and my application deadline was Dec 10. On the website, however, it says my application is "complete." You do not need hard copies to be there for the application to be considered complete, it appears. Also, someone on grad cafe said that their transcripts were late and they contacted admissions. Addmissions told them that as long as they get them within a few weeks after the deadline, it will be fine. Don't worry. I think either course of action would be fine. :-)

Am in a similar situation. I just contacted both the universities and departments, asked them if the uploaded, unofficial copies would be acceptable until the originals arrive, and they all said yes. If possible, it may be a good idea to upload a note explaining this with your application, so that the explanation will accompany the uploaded copies and there will be no confusion for anyone who reviews it later.

It's incredibly frustrating for me, as the university (and basically my whole country...) has been closed since the 19. and only reopens on January 7!
