jimmy_01 Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Caltech seems to require a GRE score (for essentially every department). But on their application this year, I noticed something very strange....In the GRE reports section, there is an option which states: "I do not plan to take the GRE" You can actually choose this option... What is this madness??? Some sort of reverse psychology?
TakeruK Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Just because it's an option doesn't mean that if you choose it, your application will be accepted Maybe they are just making their system general enough to accommodate any type of program, some of which may not require the GRE in the future? Or, maybe this option is only here because the GRE is classified as a "test score" type entry and they want to standardize all of their possible answers to "test score" type entries (e.g. TOEFL etc is optional in some circumstances). So, I'd think it's best to not overthink it
123hardasABC Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 I think some schools don't require the GRE if you already have a graduate level degree.
clandry Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Yep I saw that. I would check with the department you're applying for and weren't apps due already?
jimmy_01 Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 Yea apps were already due (for most departments at least)...
