phil1 Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 If a particular school asks for a "10 Page Philosophy Writing Sample" as part of the application, should the sample be 10 pages at most or can it be longer?
philstudent1991 Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 That seems awfully short. Is that an MA asking?
phil1 Posted December 29, 2013 Author Posted December 29, 2013 PhD. And I've already written a longer sample and used it for other applications.
bar_scene_gambler Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 (edited) I don't know if the limit is stringent or not. Some of the departments that I applied to said that if the writing sample was longer, you could still submit it, but they wouldn't read past the limit. It probably varies by department though. wandajune Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 It sounds to me like that should be the minimum requirement, but you should probably contact the program directly to verify.
tomjonesy517 Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 10 page writing sample is not exceptionally short.
Table Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 10 page writing sample is not exceptionally short. A 10 page limit would definitely be exceptionally short. A 10 page sample would probably be unusually short for most programs.
Cottagecheeseman Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 What program is this, if you don't mind me asking? 10 seems awfully short, just submit the one you already are using, they'll read at least 10 pages into it.
