416220565 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Hi everyone. I'm applying for Yale graphic design program and I noticed that there is a part called VIDEO QUESTION in the online application site. I didn't see this days ago and one of my friend applying for painting didn't have this question either. They didn't mention it at all in the admission page. It's like this: Video Question As part of the application process, please respond via a webcam to a question. To record your video, you will need a directly-attached webcam and you will need to use a browser that supports Flash. Have anyone finished this question? I've no idea what this is about and what is this for. Please help. Thanks!
kafralal Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 I'm guessing that that is for another program and that you can ignore it (unless it shows it is required question in the form). A quick search shows that people applying to Yale's MBA program have to answer a live video question.

Anyway, I'm going to start it later today. Just don't know why my friend doesn't have that part.
Erpnope Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 all the departments have different requirements and processes - where did you see it? is it in the actual application?
416220565 Posted December 31, 2013 Author Posted December 31, 2013 all the departments have different requirements and processes - where did you see it? is it in the actual application? yes. it's right in the online application site.
Happyland Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 yes. it's right in the online application site. Nice trolling. I applaud your effort to confuse the applicants.

Just don't know why my friend doesn't have that part. so i went through the app site here: https://apply.art.yale.edu/apply/ and selected GD 2 year and didn't see a video question. so I wouldn't worry about it. There is a chance you are on the grad school of arts and sciences app site which is totally different - and not the one you should be using.
junicorn Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I just submitted my application to Yale for Graphic Design and I didn't see a video question anywhere on my on-line application.

I just submitted it and I'm sure it's the right site. Maybe this question is for international student.
Erpnope Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Thanks. I just submitted it and I'm sure it's the right site. Maybe this question is for international student. perhaps, but the toefl score should be enough. could you make and link to a screen cap of these instructions? i am currently in the yale program and have no idea what you are talking about/have not heard of this at all, but this would be very helpful for any future applicants

What are its pros and cons, in terms of your experience, so far?
junicorn Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I'm pretty sure this video thing is not for international students because I am one and I didn't see it.

My question was like talk about a most influential artist to me. I had 60s to prepare the answer and 120s to speak. Pretty like the TOEFL test. Edited January 10, 2014 by 416220565
kafralal Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Can't see the screenshots, but that sounds nerve wracking...how'd it go?
