What do you do if you want to change your LoR?

I have four options for picking LoR, and for a particular program, I want to exclude one recommendar who I've already sent out the request and replace it with another. If the letter is submitted, and I exclude it, will my recommendar be notified? I hope not let the first recommendar feel unhappy. Does anyone in a similiar situation before? Does your school have a maximum for letters? Is the recommender sending the letter via mail independently?  I'd check with your department to see if four letters is ok.  If not, ask if they can just disregard one of your letters. I can't imagine that they would notify the letter writer.

I don't think they would be notified, but maybe you should call and ask if they can disregard a letter of recommendation.
