objectivityofcontradiction
Congrats Johannes. Your dream school, correct? Mine as well, though I never expected (and still don't expect) to get in. Edited March 3, 2014 by objectivityofcontradiction AcademicX

ianfaircloud
Thanks guys! I can't even described how happy I am It was through an email from John Collins. Congratulations, and thanks for the prompt notice on the forum. Also, was the email sent to a list of undisclosed recipients? Or was the email direct to you? Do you believe that there any particular reason (in your case) that the email came from John Collins?

Or was the email direct to you? Do you believe that there any particular reason (in your case) that the email came from John Collins? I think the email was a personal one. At least, it was addressed to me by first name. Since I do not share Prof. Collins' philosophical interests, I think he e-mailed me because he is the director of Graduate Admissions. zblaesi
It might be a bit too early in the game to ask this, but for those who got accepted to UT, is anyone considering turning it down in the near future?
Weltgeist
congrats on Columbia, Johannes! They were my last dream school yet to be heard from so it's unfortunate to see that I haven't received anything but with what I've got I can't complain. Best to you. humean_skeptic
There's a Columbia rejection posted. Surely Columbia isn't already sending out rejections though? Is it an assumed rejection?
zblaesi
"(0a, 0a, 1r: 1) I just don't get it, I thought I played this perfectly." - Columbia Is that for real? Lol

hopefulpessimiste
Claiming the Pitt rejection just posted. It was such a nice email...that almost made it harder! Wait For It...
Actually now I'm 99% certain the Columbia rejection posting is fake. I'm not doubting that some people do post fake notices; it seems like they do appear (and have been recently). But what's the motivation for it? I don't get it. You were probably referred to and accepted into the MAPH program.
Monadology
Surely U Chicago didn't send out all of their rejections, though. I know a few people who haven't heard a peep still (including myself, and I've checked my spam folder).

You were probably referred to and accepted into the MAPH progr Nothing in spam, and I'm pretty certain they would not have offered me a slot in the MAPH because I already have an MA. Do they have a waitlist, or could those who haven't heard anything be on an informal waitlist?
Monadology
U Chicago has no waitlist. They make 10 offers and that's it.

Do they have a waitlist, or could those who haven't heard anything be on an informal waitlist? No, there's no waitlist. If you look at the dept.'s webpage, they explicitly say that they're philosophically opposed to waitlists. If you're offered admission and turn it down, they don't offer that spot to anyone else. So if you haven't been accepted, then you're rejected. It sucks, but I doubt very much that they have an informal waitlist.
philosophe
What on earth is up with that cornell accept entry?: "The philosophy department rejected your application. But I, as dean, did not concur with this decision. Therefore you are accepted." ianfaircloud and DHumeDominates
