Hi cyprusprior, I have also been admitted by UW's Biostatistics PhD program. I am waiting for results from other programs now.

seems you got a lot of offers! Congrats!!

Why just rejections from Duke? Nobody get offers from Duke? waiting is so hard...

can't agree more!

Oh ok. Yeah the wait is brutal, I'm just hoping I can get into one place of the ten I applied. I wish there was away to guarantee that

I fully understand. Yeah getting one offer makes life much easier.

Congrats! Pure Stats? by email or postal service?

Yeah pure stats, by email.

Congrats effhorses! Did you receive a personal e-mail from a professor or an e-mail to check a website from the Graduate School? Just curious.

It was written by the department head but sent from a different address, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't a personal email, just a generic one they send to all admits.

Didn't provide specific details about financial support, just said I would receive an admission letter and statement of financial support within the week. Not sure if I should interpret that as full support or not.

Congrats! I haven't received any e-mail, but I'd be quite shocked if I did, honestly, since Harvard was definitely a long shot for me. Harvard will definitely give you full support. Treat yo'self tonight! :D

I'll celebrate for sure. Harvard was the one school I had completely written off as a rejection, so I'm still pretty shocked myself. Don't give up hope just yet!

Seems unlikely they would admit again though :S Especially if your email seems like a generic email to everyone.

I just talked to the Harvard department of statistics and they said the majority of their acceptances will be sent out around March 15.

probofstats, I think you may be thinking of the Master's acceptances. I would assume that the PhD applicants would hear back much sooner. Judging from past result postings, acceptances and rejections should all be mailed out by mid-Feb. I'm not certain if all PhD acceptance letters go out at the same time. I'd think so, but maybe not?

Judging from the results page, all the admits received the e-mail at the same time, so if I didn't get an e-mail, I am (most likely) either waitlisted or rejected. I think I will pass on contacting any depts,  unless I have not heard definitive rejection, waitlist, or acceptance by late Feb., but if anyone DOES decide to contact them, be sure to let us know what they said! Thanks!

statisticsfall2014, I'm starting to have the same worries myself. It's still a little bit early, but the thought has definitely crossed my mind, and I wonder if it's worth it to apply to any schools with later deadlines for fall 2014 at this point. I applied to 11 schools but I wonder if my list was too 'top-heavy.' Haha.

Haha exactly!!! I'm thinking about making a late run at San Diego state- computational statistics PHD (Feb 15th), or U florida. Florida is February 1st though. It's just annoying having the hassle my recommendation writers again honestly.

Any other ideas on late deadlines?

Would you mind sharing your profile for the rest of us?

Sure. For what it's worth I also got rejected from Washington.

Undergrad Institution: Good east coast state school (unsure of reputation in mathematics)

Majors: Math (statistics track), Economics

GPA: 3.9

GRE Scores:

Q: 164

V: 167

W: 4.5

Math/stat classes: Real Analysis I & II, Probability and Statistics Theory, Econometrics, no graduate classes

Research Experience: Some experience at my internship, no co-authorships or anything though

Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Dean's list, some merit scholarships

Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Have interned at a government statistical agency for over a year now
