She's looking for specific examples that match with the specific angle she's pursuing for this human-interest story. Yes but I am so tired of these articles that are just a collection of anecdotes purporting to be broad trends. Shouldn't she collect information first and then draw a conclusion? I suppose I wouldn't mind if the article really was just retelling a few people's stories, but I have a feeling that the headline would be something like Students Nationwide Unable to Pursue Educational Goals. FWIW I don't think reporters are evil.
