heyheyhey919 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 SSRC DPDF proposals are due next week. Has anyone applied? Do any past recipients have suggestions for successful applications?
anthro.fish Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Glad you started this thread. This will give us a great place to obsess about our applications while providing an anxiety-filled distraction from our coursework requirements. I hope someone comes along with some statistics about the applicant field. Maybe . . . how many have applied in the past, etc.?
anthro.fish Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 In 2011, there were 77 awardees out of 1213 applicants.
heyheyhey919 Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) Yikes, wish I could unread those odds. I'm applying to the biotech body category... Edited February 3, 2014 by heyheyhey919 anthro.fish 1
natimarie Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I feel like the lottery has marginally better odds. #Depressed in Governance and State Building anthro.fish and natimarie 2
anthro.fish Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I applied to Modernity and Autochthony. Hopefully that word scared most people off. natimarie 1
aksarathi Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) I applied to the Oceanic Studies section. I hope I get it and best of luck to everyone else! Edited February 20, 2014 by aksarathi
natimarie Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 That word scared me. #FingersCrossedForYou anthro.fish 1
Quasi Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I also applied and I haven't heard back yet. But reading that "In 2011, there were 77 awardees out of 1213 applicants" just made me panic. anthro.fish 1
heyheyhey919 Posted March 14, 2014 Author Posted March 14, 2014 Anyone hear anything yet? From previous years it looks like this week or next is when they'll send the initial acceptances...
anthro.fish Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 I am definitely monitoring all channels - so far, radio silence. I expect someone to get a request for official transcripts soon. As someone once said, "I have one egg, one basket." Quasi 1
Quasi Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 May be each section has different deadlines for informing candidates. But please let us know if you hear anything. Hopefully this will be a good week for some of us! anthro.fish 1
Quasi Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Not me. I'm trying not to obsess about it but I just made the mistake of re-reading my application. I thought it was great when I submitted it, but now I find it extremely weak in many aspects... I applied to Migration and Development, by the way. anthro.fish 1
hau11 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 This was all I could get out of their fellowship assistant (on March 18th): Thank you for your email. We will be notifying applicants within the next four weeks. All notifications will be sent by April 11. I hope this helps you plan accordingly. Quasi and anthro.fish 2
anthro.fish Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Thanks for the update. I just like seeing there's a new post in this forum; that's also pretty much why I'm writing this comment. Quasi 1
greenumbrella Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Anybody heard anything? In 2012 and '13 the first round of emails were already sent by the 21st. Wonder what's happening this time...
Genc Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Acceptances have been sent out, at least for "Immigrants and their Homeland Connections". I'm not sure if other fields have different notification dates. Good luck to all of you and I hope you hear good news soon!
coccinelle2 Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Has anyone heard anything from State Building and Governance? Congratulations to all who've been accepted! coccinelle2 and PhDJay 1 1
TMP Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Yes, the Immigrant field sent out acceptances. I got in So excited- this is my dream pre-diss fellowship!
natimarie Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I'm waiting for State Building as well. I just got a Ford rejection, so one egg, one basket, lol.
