deea a. Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Hi! Thanks for taking the time to read my post. I would really like to get to know any international student who has pursued a postbac premed program in the U.S. and gone onto medical school there. I have been contemplating a career in medicine for sometime. I am an international student myself and just graduate from college in the U.S. (I majored in Sociology). I am interested in international development, a field I really love. However I feel a greater pull towards becoming a doctor instead. The only option open for me is to return to the U.S., complete the postbac premed and get an MD. Now, I know how incredibly challenging it is for international students to get admission at an American medical school (that's another discussion for later). But I haven't really heard of international students doing the postbac premed; I know few friends who are going to med school straight from undergrad. Plus, there are only few postbac premed programs that accepts international students. I'd be very grateful if I could talk to someone who's been through the process or just starting out. Any other advice would be highly appreciated! Cheers,

C_Chattra Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I think you'd more answers at this website as it is more geared towards medicine: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/categories/pre-medical-forums.5/
Admissions Advice Online Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Anyone can complete the post bach in the US. You should however take a look at each program's structure. Some programs will not help international students prepare applications for American Med Schools. However, as long as you had an undergraduate gpa above a 2.7-3.0, getting into an American Post Bach is not too difficult. -Admissions Advice Online.
