bsharpe269 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 There's an awesome professor in Hong Kong in my sub field. Does anyone know general info on how their application process might differ or how a phd there would look when applying for post docs in the US
bmarcus Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I applied to three business schools there. The applications where very direct and straight forward. I had contacted a few of the professors ahead of time and they were very cordial. I'm not sure about the post doc opportunities back here (US), but I plan on finding out if I get accepted, although all three departments were pretty well represented in one of the leading journals in the field.
Coffeenwhiskey Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Bmarcus is right. I'm from Hong Kong and have applied to schools in Hong Kong and in the US. Applications are pretty much the same. I think Hong Kong schools place less emphasis on GRE scores and focus more on the reputation of your undergrad college. Post doc opportunties in the US for Hong Kong PhDs are not common. But it may be a different story in your case since you are from the States.
