  1. The Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Business Studies is from Rutgers, which is a good sign. You should check into the placements of each of the schools and see how those look. Congrats and good luck!

  5. What is your current Masters in and what do want to be doing career-wise?
  6. As a side note, UC Irvine has a similar program that combines an engineering masters with business courses. Multiple students have landed jobs at local medical device companies. http://www.eng.uci.edu/grad/programs/em
  7. Ditto! They wanted them ASAP as well. So I paid the extra expedite fee and had the school Fedex another transcript. I was able to see who signed for it and let the admin contact know, upon which she confirmed the receipt.
  8. I applied to three business schools there. The applications where very direct and straight forward. I had contacted a few of the professors ahead of time and they were very cordial. I'm not sure about the post doc opportunities back here (US), but I plan on finding out if I get accepted, although all three departments were pretty well represented in one of the leading journals in the field.
  9. My top choice really has everything rolled into one: 1) Professors directly matching my area of interest. 2) Potential to finish in as early as 3 years. 3) Close to family. 4) Respected international reputation. 5) The communication from them has been very cordial.
  10. In my opinion, it would be worthwhile to finish the MBA and then look into PhD programs. The final few courses really help to tie the program together. At that point, you would have a solid basis to launch into the PhD. So far, in my case, the PhD programs I've spoken to have looked very favorably on my MBA experience, including a solid GPA. In fact, UCLA was recruiting us directly when we were there and offered to credit three of the courses towards the PhD.
  11. I would think that most MBA programs have some "social" / non-profit aspect to them. I know at UCLA, there was a wide range of final projects specifically for non-profits and NGOs. In those cases, advisors with experience in non-profits were specifically assigned to the project.
  12. Yes, congrats!! http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-engineering-schools/electrical-engineering-rankings
  13. Ironically, one of the top business school professors in the world has a PhD in History. He has been applying the methodology used in History to business strategy with enlightening results. http://www.ie.edu/school-international-relations/faculty/detail.php?id_academic=20
  14. It had been on PBS under the show title "Independent Lens". You can try to check your local PBS station to see if they are still running it. http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/
  15. Yes, I am a Cal alum and it was very sentimental to watch. The core premise is: How does a public university facing major budget cuts continue to provide a high quality education and provide it judiciously to people of all race, color, creed, sexual preference and socio-economic status.
  16. Of course, the sardonic answer is: It depends on which schools they were able to get you into!!!
  17. Regarding #1, I was effective with all three targets without using bold face. In fact, my messages were only one paragraph, very short and direct. Good luck!
  18. I already promised to take them to lunch when I asked them to be referees, which I am due to follow up on now.
  19. One of the leading journals for Entrepreneurship research is the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal. You can look through the Editorial Board of the Journal to see which schools are active in the field. http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/10.1002/(ISSN)1932-443X/homepage/EditorialBoard.html Good luck!
  20. Three here as well. There were maybe two more options, but I couldn't really get as much information as the three I selected.
