MPAallday Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Does anyone know when A&M starts sending out its letters and requests for interviews? I heard someone say that they send out letters/requests for interviews in early February; so I'm wondering if that claim has any credibility to it. I'm applying for their MPSA (it's the Bush School equivalent to an MPA). Thoughts? Comments? Opinions?
dctalk13 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I received mine on the 30th of January through email. I think it varies from late January to early February. If you didn't get one, check your spam folder. That's where mine was by mistake.I didn't realize it until 6 days later.
MPAallday Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 I recieved an email from them today saying that I was invited back to the second round of interviews. Apparently they sent it a few days ago but it must've been lost in my inbox. Thanks!
MPAallday Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 Is anyone else flirting with the idea of doing the in-person interview? The admissions conference sounds pretty cool.
Mathue Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Any word for those applying to MPIA? Currently on Day 8 of what was supposed to be a 5-7 day wait and nothing in the spam folder..
Mathue Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 To answer my own question, and anybody else wondering, they hope to have the MPIA invitations sent out between 5-7pm tonight.
dctalk13 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I'll be attending the MPSA conference. Currently trying to figure out what questions to prep for. I heard they're currently still accepting MPSA applications.
MPAallday Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 It turns out I won't be at the conference due to a previous engagement. Good luck to all who attend!
dctalk13 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Since you're doing the phone interview, you should give the rest of us a heads up on what questions to expect from them.
thrtyfutsmurf Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Hey all! Just completed the Skype interview last night with the Bush School. All and all, it was a great experience. I was interviewed by two lecturers and they asked a variety of questions. The first question was about where I am currently working (Romania) and what exactly my job entails. I have a similar background to one of the interviewers so we spoke briefly about that. They also asked if I was interested in living in College Station and how that would or would not impact my wife/family (German citizen). They asked about my language preference during graduate school, as I am not yet proficient in a language. They also spent significant time selling the school and its many strengths to me, which I thought was a nice touch. At the end of the interview, they asked if I had any questions. I asked about the instructor/student relationship, class size and feel of the student body. It was relatively relaxed and comfortable. I appreciated the personal touch the interviewers added and am even more impressed with the school now then prior to the interview. Hope this helps.
MPAallday Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 Just to update y'all -- I just finished my Skype interview with them. Echoing what thrtyfutsmurf said, it made me even more impressed with the Bush School than when I applied. I was also interviewed by two professors who were happy to expound upon my questions concerning the program. It was fairly relaxed and informal.
MPAallday Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 For those of y'all that went to the conference today, what'd you think? I'd love to hear some feedback from those who went in-person!
dctalk13 Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Sure, why not. School seemed very focused on recruiting individuals committed to public service. Appears that the student body is a very tight knit group and classes are a team/group structure. Professors seem very friendly and approachable, or at least most of them. Very good job placement and financial funding.
MPAallday Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 All of those things sound fantastic. Haha
Amsh_Aust Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Anyone going for the MPIA interview conference on 28-1 weekend?

dctalk13 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Just got my email...Accepted!!! So relieved =). Keep a look out for those emails folks.
MPAallday Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) Just got in! $4,000 in funding. For those of you that got in -- what kind of funding offers did you get? The school claims to try to offer at least $1,000 to every student. Edited March 11, 2014 by MPAallday
dctalk13 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I got 5k but only because I'm an AmeriCorps Vista. I think they break it out by 1k, 4k,10k,15k scholarships normally.
Mathue Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Received an admissions and funding notifcation email for the MPIA program tonight, can't wait to go to the Bush School in August.

Amsh_Aust Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Congrats to all those who got in. Have gotten in to Bush School MPIA. 5k in funds If any current MPIA student is reading this, would you please help me choose between Bush and LBJ? I've got offers from both. PM me.
BushSchoolStudent Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Hi guys, it looks like I'm a little late to this conversation! I'm an international student (UK), got my acceptance last week
