Seattle2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Dear gradcafe people, I have applied for Phd in human-centered design and engineering at University of Washington. The deadline was Dec 15th 2013. From gradcafe, I noticed that one international student received the phd offer on 23rd Jan and two more Americans got the offers on 31st Jan. Strangely, there was no news after 31st Jan. Is the committee still reviewing applications and deciding another round of offers?? Thank you very much for sharing your views. Btw, on the department website, it says all applicants will receive email of acceptance or rejection by 28th Feb.
Seattle2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 Valentine's day is coming. Application is like submitting the love letter. We anxiously wait for the response and wonder if it is sweet or bitter. Stressica 1
PhDerp Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 You can contact them and ask. You might be implicitly waitlisted, which is much better than a straight rejection! Or the message might not have gotten across for some reason. It won't hurt to ask!
peachypie Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Some schools will be doing multiple rounds of interviews/acceptances and others might not. The only way to know is to ask. Some schools send out rejections at the end and some do it throughout the process as well. Have you seen any rejections for your program or just interviews or acceptances? Otherwise hang tight and be happy there is no bad news received. Good luck!
Seattle2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 Thank you so much for your kind advice. This Phd program doesn't call for interviews. So far, I only noticed one phd offer on 23rd Jan and two more offers on 31st Jan. No more news about acceptance or rejection after 31st Jan. I am waiting for the reply from the secretary. Thank you again for relivering my pains =)
dinostrea Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Well, if it's by the 28th, you don't have too much longer to wait! And if you haven't gotten news by then, it's definitely kosher to go ahead and shoot them an email. I also like studying trends and making conjectures...but it's definitely not even close to being accurate sometimes, especially when there's a small sample size.
Seattle2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 Thank you for your lovely reply Sent an email to the secretary. Try to dig out the admission intelligence Good luck to you~
