So I am starting to think about accepted student open houses. One school recommends waiting to make flight plans for visit days until you have heard from all schools in the same geographic region.  But if you wait too long, flight costs are too high.

So I would love to know the visit days of the schools I haven't heard back from yet, because I may be able to plan trips.

I would be very greatful if anybody knew the date of visit days for Harvard or Columbia.

Here are the ones I know so far:

MIT Feb 28-March 1 (?), Cornell March 9-11, U of Chicago March 9-11, Brown March 11-12, CMU March 3-5.

On a related note, did you receive an email from StudentUniverse on behalf of Harvard asking for travel information? They said they inadvertently emailed all applicants, but I'm not sure I believe them.

No??????

I hope they didn't accidentally send it to all accepted students, because that would mean I was rejected (or haven't made a decision yet?)

npspace, may I ask what program you applied for at CMU?  Do you know if the visit day is program specific or is it for the whole CS department?  I haven't heard anything one way or the other on my PhD application.  I assume not hearing about the visit day implies rejection.  I didn't expect to get in, but I can't help holding out a little hope!

Also, there is a similar thread here:

If someone is not visiting a university on the visiting day, is it good to inform the department that you won't come?
