Valentine's Day Gift for Adcom

So, now that Valentine's Day has come and gone, what did you guys get for your adcom? After speaking with some of my advisors who in the past were students of Brandom, my POI at Pittsburgh, I decided to get him a lavender-smelling beard comb. I forgot to do this last time I applied, so I have high hopes for this second application season.

Is giving valentine's gifts common in the philosophy field? It just seems inappropriate unless you are already good contacts...

I tried a chocolate scented beard comb for Marc Lange at UNC. All I have to show for it is a rejection letter.

 

Logic tells me that either i) bearded men don't enjoy scented gifts, or ii) both our gifts were lost in the mail; and since i) is patently false, I can only reasonably infer USPS is to blame. Next time I'll pay the extra 70 cents for tracking.

I do a lot of shipping and I'm pretty sure tracking has been 90 cents for the longest time. It may have even gone up to $1.10 now if memory serves. Outrageous!

I just sent everyone a singing card. Forgot about it until the 13th and had to fedex express them, so that's $220 down the drain. Ugh.

I sent chocolate frogs. In cases where I thought flattery would help my cause, I made sure the famous philosopher on the card was the recipient.
