kv87 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I applied to Brown and really am hoping that all the elections haven't been made. I called today and they told me that they are still in process of making decisions. Just curious if anyone knows if this could be true because there have been no rejections (though it looks like they usually have about a five day gap between acceptance and rejection days in the past). Also, if anyone has any info to share at all, that would be awesome (anything at all!). I applied to other schools but this is my top one. I realize that this is probably just denial. Lol. Thanks and good luck to everyone out there and congrats to all those who have been excepted!
Nemo1 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I'm in the same situation as you, and while I wish it were true, sadly I think it's denial. I predict a mass emailing of rejections one day this week...
Megeen Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I'm in the same boat as you guys, but I feel a tiny bit hopeful after you've called them. Why would they tell you that they're still reviewing if they're not. Considering that the notifications went out a couple of weeks ago, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't notify people if they're done making decisions.
semicolon2013 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I don't know why they would lie if they have made all decisions, but it does seem like they've already accepted quite a few people. Maybe they've sent out all acceptances and are deciding who to waitlist? Not sure, but I want to know as well!
Nemo1 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I had so much invested in Brown, I just don't dare get my hopes up. The pattern from previous years does seem to be: acceptances lumped together in one go, then a delay, then all the rejections. There's also a note in the results board from a few years back: "Brown has finished making their decisions. Out of about 450 applications, Brown will be making 16 offers for a target class of 6" which leaves me in doubt about whether they actually use a waitlist at all. Well, we'll see. My pessimism seems to be unshakable at the moment!
semicolon2013 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Emailed the DGS. The grad school is trying to send all notices by this afternoon. I assume he means the rejections will be rolling out.

filibustamove Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I was unable to attend the recruitment event held this past week, so I would love to hear opinions about the program and atmosphere. Anyone care to share what they learned/appreciate/dislike about Brown English? Thanks in advance!
