ceeceeroni Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Hello, I am getting married the weekend before new semester starts (08/23/2014) and the wedding is going to be outside US. I've already been accepted to two programs and both programs start on the 25th of August (TWO DAYS AFTER MY WEDDING! NO HONEYMOON FOR ME...BOO!!) it is most likely that I am going to miss new student orientation. Do you think it is okay to write an email explaining my situation and see if I can get exempted? I am going to the States for a week in April; do you think I can ask if I can fill out important documents and discuss key issues covered during orientation from the department/ professors instead? The best solution would be changing my wedding date thoughI cannot change the wedding date because of my fiance. He is in grad school and his summer break starts on the 15th of August. What would be the best way to approach this? Please help me!
HicklePickle Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Have you checked the academic calendar online to see if they post the dates of orientation? Then you could go from there.
roguesenna Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I would email the school and discuss your options. Both are in the US I'm assuming? Businesses and schools tend to be fairly accomodating about weddings and the like here.
