Is there a status check tool (regarding admissions decisions) available for the University of Maryland, College Park? I noticed that when I logged into the application, it said that everything was complete but that results could not be given out via email nor phone. Does this mean that postal mail is the only way I can find out my admissions decision?

Thanks for any responses!

I got an email last week with an unofficial acceptance letter. A day or two later, a link to this letter appeared in the "Check Application Status" section of my application.

That's good to hear!

So I guess this is a lie then:

Haha, to give them the benefit of the doubt, I'd say it's poorly worded. They did send me a decision letter by mail, after the email acceptance. The mailed letter was identical to the web version. I think what they meant by "email correspondence" is that you shouldn't email them asking if you got accepted. Instead, you should wait to be contacted. Still, probably not the most well-written paragraph ever.

Ah great! That definitely clears it up a bit.  :)

Congrats on your admission! Did you have an interview? When I was asking about my application status by e-mail last week, the admission assistant told me that there would be interview for final applicants.

Thanks! No, I did not have an interview prior to the admissions decision. I applied to the MPP program. Did you apply to a different program at Maryland? Also, perhaps only International students require an interview, in order to test English skills?

Thank you for your reply! I did apply to the MPP program. Perhaps interviews are only required for international applicants. I'm going to ask about it agian next week.

I've noticed you already got 5 admissions. Have you decided which to choose?

Not yet. I'm leaning toward Minnesota and Chicago, due to their quantitative/economics focus. But, I haven't heard yet from Chicago on admissions or Minnesota on funding.

Oh, I see. So good luck with that then!

Hey everyone-

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted thus far! I got my acceptance letter last Friday, but unfortunately I am currently on the waitilist for funding. Maryland is my first choice so I really want to attend, but would really prefer to have merit-based aid (assistantship). Does anyone know what the likelihood of being accepted off the waitlist for funding is? Thanks!

Also- Did anyone else have a professor cc'd at the bottom of their hard copy acceptance letter sent via email? Why is this?

Unfortunately no one can tell you with any degree of strong certainty (unless they work in admissions) what the likelihood of this is.

If you want an idea as to what the likelihood might be, check these forums (and the results) to see how many people are accepting or rejecting their offers from UMD. If there are a lot of people rejecting their offers, it might indicate that there is a high turnover on the funding wait list.

i got my acceptance letter today. But unfortunately, i am currently on waitlist for merit funding. As an international student, fin-aid looms large on my mind and would be the major decision variable for me.

i also have a prof cced in the scanned hard copy letter sent to me via email.

I'm in the same boat, did you reapply?
