Huntsman Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 Well at least it is good to know we aren't alone. I will update the thread whenever I hear back. Good luck everyone!
skyhawk Posted March 15, 2014 Author Posted March 15, 2014 Yeah.. But I doubt whether they will send out decisions on weekend which has already started...
forsyth Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 No news so far. But there have been admits given out during the course of this week last year. Hoping for the best!
aslan Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I applied to MEng in EECS, and still haven't heard anything :/
skyhawk Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 Yeah... Many people haven't and are stil waiting... Maybe we get to hear from them this week... Keep this thread updated!
TianJ Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 (edited) Well I have been following this thread for a long time and it's time to say something. One of my friends had got an email from admission officer saying all ads were out by last week. And rejection letters will be sent by the end of March. They also clarified that interviews are no indications of admission at all. I have known people with interview but without admission and vice versa. I am really depressed that I did not hear anything from them yet since Berkeley is my first choice school and I really like the bay area. I applied to EECS robotics and embedded software concentration which is a 100% match to my undergrad research, my interest and my career goal. I guess there are two reasons for me to be rejected. First I am from the east coast and my undergrad institute is not a large one so that Berkeley officers may not have heard of it. But it's a really good one with high reputation among the industries. Secondly, I am probably just not good enough for the program. I am sure they have got thousands of applications for the M.Eng program and openings are limited to 100 or so. So probably 150-200 admission offers are sent to all applicants. Congratulations to all those being admitted to Berkeley M.Eng program and you should all be proud of yourselves. I am so sad Edited March 18, 2014 by TianJ
forsyth Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 I had my hopes up on this one. The interview went really good, atleast according to me. This is depressing
skyhawk Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 Aaahhhh.... I too had high hopes from this program and it was the first choice for me too Y did they hold interviews when these werent the criteria ... Sad ! :'( That means v r now left with just waiting for their rejection mail ? :'(
symptl Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 (edited) Maybe different concentrations progress on their own schedules. I know I'm probably setting myself up for disappointment, but has anyone heard anything at all regarding decisions for the Bioengineering concentration? Huntsman, have you heard anything yet? Edited March 18, 2014 by symptl
Huntsman Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 symptl: Still nothing, I hate to say it but I think TianJ may be right. I thought when I had my interview they said decisions would be out by the 15th. I assumed that meant we would be notified either way but I guess that could have only been for acceptances. Honesly, I didn't think my interview went all that well so I would be surprised if I heard anything other than rejection at this point. That being said, I haven't seen or heard of anything regarding the bioengineering concentration, so I wouldn't completely rule it out yet. Have you thought of emailing the department to check your status?
Luca Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Official rejection letter just came into my inbox. same here...
forsyth Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Same here! Good luck with the rest of your applications!
Huntsman Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 (edited) Does an updated status show up on your application on the website? I still haven't heard anything, but I have no computer access to personal email while at work, and my phone service is sketchy here on the best of days. Although I am all but certain it is rejection at this point I would still like to know for sure... Edited March 19, 2014 by Huntsman
aslan Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Got the email to check the application decision online. Didn't get in. Best of luck to everyone in your graduate studies..
symptl Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 (edited) @ Hunstman : I'm also applying for BioE and I still don't have an e-mail/website update. I think BioE is delayed relative to EE. Also the BioE M.Eng website says that admissions will be sent by late March or early April. I think we may still have some time. Edit: Huntsman, do you know the concentration of the M.Eng student that interviewed you? His department may be operating on a different timeframe from other concentrations (EE vs. BioE). Edited March 19, 2014 by symptl
Huntsman Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 @ symptl : Oh my gosh this whole process is stressing me out I just want to know already! But that is good news that we may still have some hope. I interviewed with Hayley Lam, she is a lecturer in the BioE department. I am not sure about her specific concentration, it doesn't say anything on her faculty page.
Lilole Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 All the best! I applied for EECS Robotics and Embedded software, and got an offer with partial funding on the 12th March.
comohacerhumo Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I received my rejection letter yesterday. So sad . I am an international student with a Fulbright Scholarship. It would have been a dream for me. Where are you guys going now?
symptl Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) Anyone heard anything yet? Edit: Forgot to clarify, I meant specifically for BioE. Edited March 24, 2014 by symptl
Huntsman Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Still no change - application status stuck at "submitted."
