lattelover Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Hi Everyone- Congrats on being admitted to the University of Maryland-College Park's MPP/MPA program! I didn't see another admitted students forum so I thought I would start one here. So- how many of you are definitely/leaning towards atteniding Marlyand this fall? As for me Maryland is a top runner but I am still having a hard time making a decision.
MPAallday Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I was rejected! I thought it was kinda weird because UT Austin and Virginia waitlisted me, so I was at least expecting that from Maryland. Congrats tho! I've heard great things about their program and proximity to the capital!
yayayaya Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I received an email about half an hour ago including information about Admitted Students Open House - UMD School of Public Policy. However, I haven't received any admission responses yet. Does anyone also get this email?
lattelover Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 I received that email yesterday but oddly it went straight to my spam folder.
epb527 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I also go the invite to the Admitted Students Open House but haven't received a decision yet. I'm assuming they are just a little behind on those emails, and we'll be getting them in a few days?
klaulett Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 What do you guys think about the strength of this program? I'm worried that it doesn't carry as much clout as other DC-area MPP programs. Any thoughts or insight?

Any thoughts or insight? CO-ask. I have been admitted to one of the DC school but worrying about the price tag. Among the schools close to DC area, UMD for sure has a much more affordable price.
lattelover Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 I'm interested in Maryland primarily for its energy/environment policy specialization. But in terms of overall reputation I think Georgetown carries the most clout-with that being said it is also very $$$ without funding.
xiali Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I have already made the decision..I'm going to Maryland this Fall, but it seems there are not many MPP graduates this year.
