Christalyn Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Hi everyone, I'm an intended MPP or MPA, and I've been accepted to both NYU Wagner and Georgetown McCourt. I've received a 10k scholarship from Georgetown for this year, but I'm hoping for more from NYU (they haven't sent out packages yet). Which school is better? Wagner's ranked 6th for the MPA, but I think Georgetown has a better reputation overall. I'd like to focus on either international development or social policy, and I'm hoping to work for the UN or a governmental agency. Thoughts, opinions, experiences??
hj2012 Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 In this case, I personally would follow the money. Both programs would give you a good networking base and both cities have lots of opportunities for jobs and internships in your field. My friends who are from NYC who moved down to DC often complain that DC is "boring." It is definitely a smaller city with a certain kind of atmosphere. I personally love it (clean, great food and culture, not as overwhelming, relatively strong economy) but I was raised there and am therefore a bit biased. Congrats on both acceptances, and good luck on making your decision!
Christalyn Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 Thanks! And as I've been asking around, what you said seems to be in line with everyone else is saying. Ultimately, they're both pretty good, so follow the money.
