rileypep
Hello, Ill be applying for grad school this upcoming fall and I was wondering what the top 15 IR schools that have concentrations in security studies are. I cant really find anything on the gradschool search engines so i was wondering if i can get some input here. I mainly want to know where the 5 - 15 programs are because i highly doubt that i can get into the top 5 with my Work experience(only 9-10 months of internships) thanks
natofone
Work experience is more or less irrelevant. US News and World report has a top 10 in IR. Foreign Policy magazine also publishes a top 25 in IR.
rileypep
i thought work experiece was a huge part of the application? especially for schools like hks, columbia and gtown?

You're thinking about Public Policy PhDs, not Political Science PhDs with an IR concentration. Different degrees, different requirements. I'm not sure there are even 15 policy schools that could be considered "top-schools" in foreign-policy-related stuff.
rileypep
i was thinking more in line of a M.A. in International relations
natofone
A program that is specifically called IR will likely be academically oriented. The other poster was correct. You're looking for public policy, not political science. In that case work experience matters. Foreign Policy magazine has a ranking of them on their website.
