ChingKing Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Hi, Recently, my application status in the ApplyYourself becomes " YOU WILL RECEIVE NOTIFICATION OF YOUR ADMISSION DECISION SOON VIA POSTAL MAIL. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE OFFICE OF ADMISSIONS PROVIDES FINAL DECISION NOTIFICATIONS BY LETTER ONLY. WE DO NOT DISCLOSE ADMISSION DECISIONS VIA E-MAIL, TELEPHONE, OR ANY OTHER MEANS." Does anyone know how long it takes to receive the postal mail? (I'm international student) Just wondering if it is still possible to be accepted at this time, it is end of April after all. I don't feel confident to get accepted. Just want to know the result as soon as possible. But the department never responded my inquiry. (viterbi.gradadmission@usc.edu and ldeleon@usc.edu) Many people said this might be a Rejection since I never heard anything from the department. Anyone has idea? This is my last shot. Otherwise, I have to go to The Ohio state university without funding. Good luck everyone!
Torque Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 In my specific PhD program at USC, we all heard back through letters whether it was an acceptance or rejection. Best of luck. Torque 1
PhDerp Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I got my letter pretty quickly after an e-mail from the department notifying me (the notification came from ldeleon@usc.edu), but I'm a domestic student, so it was probably sooner. The envelope is pretty unsuspecting, so check your junk mail!
ChingKing Posted April 22, 2014 Author Posted April 22, 2014 Thanks, guys. I also contacted ldeleon@usc.edu many times to ask the status, but he never reply. So I assume it's not a good news.

PhDerp Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 May I know that when did you get the e-mail ? I was e-mailed Feb 13th, but there were people who were accepted later that I've seen on the results page. So who knows? Also, ldeleon is a "she", not a "he".
ChingKing Posted April 23, 2014 Author Posted April 23, 2014 Just wondering if there is any case who gets accepted via postal mail before email ?
PhDerp Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Just wondering if there is any case who gets accepted via postal mail before email ? It didn't work out that way for me (at least, not that I noticed)... But there may be? Do you have any other offers? Is this the last school you're waiting on?

Is this the last school you're waiting on? Hmm...I only get accepted by The Ohio State University without funding. But I like USC's PhD program more. Just want to know the result as soon as possible to let me make final decision. USC is really slow, and still, ldeleon did not reply yet. I think I will go to Ohio.
ChingKing Posted April 30, 2014 Author Posted April 30, 2014 Just for the record. I registered and checked the website: https://usconnect.usc.edu/ . Then the rejection letter is there already since 17th April. It looks like USC will use online system to replace postal mail to notify the result in the future. Good Luck everyone!
