I was accepted to a Family Sciences program on March 5th, and I have until May 15th to accept my offer. I want to accept it so badly, but I still have NOT received my official letter from the graduate school. I called the admissions counselor in charge of the Family Sciences department and she told me that the decisions haven't even been sent to the graduate school yet. It is April 24, and I am freaking out! I feel like I have no information regarding my acceptance and how I can enroll. The acceptance email from the department literally just says please confirm acceptance by May 15th. I assume I have to email the program director that sent me the email. However, I am getting slightly irritated that it is getting this late, and I still have not gotten an official letter from the graduate school.

Has anyone else had this problem? I am not sure what to do, but I feel like I cannot keep waiting anymore.

I don't understand the problem. It's all the same school? You'll be accepted soon, the Graduate School acceptance is just a formality. So just enjoy yourself and chill!

I accepted an offer already and paid no deposit and have no official letter. So I get the worrying thing, but freaking out is unnecessarily stressful! You'll be ok! :)

I've never experienced this, but I would just email the director saying something to the effect of 'please utilize this email as a verbal acceptance of your offer. I will be happy to sign any papers required of me to secure my spot, and await the official letter from the graduate school to do so. I look forward to joining the program in the fall'

In my experience, waiting and stressing yourself out is never worth it! Just ask, you'll probably (and hopefully) be happily surprised

and i agree with the poster above- it's just a formality for the grad school to approve departmental decisions

I guess you haven't confirmed with the department yet. The procedure should be like this: you accept the department's offer, then they will send to the graduate school to complete everything else and send you a formal (official) letter, then you will have to confirm with the graduate school again. You may have to send them some documents. I have done this three times with three programs.

So, if you have accepted the department's offer and the graduate school still haven't received anything, then you have to contact the department immediately.

Good luck!
