crossoveranx Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Hello everyone, I was recently accepted to a good research university for a Ph.D. in psychology. However, I haven't been able to acquire funding or a stipend. Attending this school would cost me $125,000+ for four years. My question is, is it worth it to get a doctorate and being this much in debt? Please let me know your thoughts, thanks.
the_sheath Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 If you happen to become the heir to some sort of large pile of cash between now and then, or if you had some way of being able to pay off that debt quickly right after you got out, sure, go for it. Otherwise, no. If you can't afford it, don't go.
PsycD Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I'm surprised...most Psyc PhD programs are fully-funded, typically granting at minimum an RA-ship and tuition waiver. Please...Do not attend this or any other PhD program without full funding.
