Hey all -- :)

I had a pretty difficult time deciding whether or not to take a year off before going to grad school, and ultimately decided to apply to a couple of MPA programs in New York (safe OSU). I've seen that most threads are about people who've already been accepted to grad programs and are making their decisions so I figured us late® applicants needed a topic of our own where we can wallow and wait together (hehe)!

My info:

Schools applied to for MPAs:  Baruch SPA (April 1st), Cornell CIPA (rolling), OSU Glenn School (May 5th), NYU Wagner (May 1st)

So, which schools did you guys apply to and do you know when you're supposed to receive a decision? Also, since we applied late®, does that mean that our chances of getting accepted are lower? Personally, I'm mostly worried about my chances at funding and graduate assistantships but I'm trying to stay optimistic!

I'm not sure how things are for MPA programs specifically, but I think it depends on the department and the school. I had a friend in engineering get into a masters program in July last year.

I'm applying for statistics masters programs and applied to a few rolling admissions/late deadline programs:

Brown (rolling, applied in March), Columbia (rolling, final deadline June 2), Georgia State (July 1), and Troy University (rolling, but I applied in Feb and haven't heard back).

I doubt our chances of getting accepted are that much lower, especially since it wouldn't be fair for programs with later deadlines to fill up their class early on and still accept applications from everyone else. I also don't think funding and assistantships are out of the question since many programs decide on funding over the summer/beginning of fall, but once again, it depends on the department/school.

Best of luck to you!

I applied to the University of Saskatchewan's MPA program on the late deadline (May 1st); apparently the results are supposed to be out by June 1st. The university is specifically designed for ease of late applicants, though, with funding still potentially available... I'm hopeful!
