morlvera Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I work at a university and have been taking classes for personal enrichment. I usually take them for a grade, but have audited a few if I knew there were going to be work conflicts that would require to me to miss class/exams. I'm thinking about applying to grad school for psych and am wondering about how the auditing might affect my application. So far it's 3 classes -- 2 of which would be relevant for psych. One is a second semester stats course and the other is an introductory course on the biological basis of behavior. Should I retake both for a grade if I decide to go the grad school route? Thanks!
spunky Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) Should I retake both for a grade if I decide to go the grad school route? the stats course for sure. expertise in research methods beyond the usual introductory courses is expected from applicants the moment they apply. the biological basis of behaviour... well, i guess it depends on which program you intend to apply? as in if you apply to social/personality psych programs i would put emphasis on having good grades in courses related to social/personality psychology. but if you're applying for a neuropsych program then yes, it would make sense for you to re-take it for grade.
