ar_t Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 (edited) Hi dear Gradcafers I plan to apply to grad-schools (PhD) in US and Canada this fall and I am writing up the Master dissertation (for a taught degree in UK). I wonder whether the dissertation should be used as the writing sample for grad-school application, but what I am writing currently is not so relevant to my proposed research interest as I changed my mind. I've also got some term papers to submit in case but they are not so relevant either. Would it influence the decision of the committee if the writing sample is not so closely related to my field of interest? This troubles me so much and it is already too late to change the dissertation topic... And advise wanted: what's the chance to get into a PhD program with a one-year MA in art history but without a art history BA? I got a BSc in biology but took several courses in art history. In this case is it better also to apply for Masters? Many thanks!!!!!! Edited June 28, 2014 by ar_t
