SocPhDreamer Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Hi all, I was hoping to see if y'all know of any scholarships or aid that helps pay for things like graduate school applications, GRE, etc? (applying can get costly!) Thanks!!!!
hj2012 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 You can apply for tuition waivers for application fees at most universities. The process can be a pain, though, and I recommend starting on those as early as possible, because bureaucracy.
gingin6789 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Hey, there! Sometimes, application fee waivers can be unexpected, if you work with a qualifying organization. For example, my good friend had application fees for Brandeis and UConn (I THINK UConn, but I'm not positive. Definitely Brandeis, though) waived because she works with AmeriCorps. So, I would call the department or search the website to see if there's any possibility to have app fees waived. As for the GRE ... *shudder* that was a $1,000+ investment for me, including tutoring classes that made all the difference. I don't know if there's anything you can do to receive discounts on the GRE registration fee or tutoring!!
Maleficent999 Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 I know you can get the GRE fee waived but there are some qualifications you have to meet. If you go to the ETS website and search I'm sure you can find out what those qualifications are.
