ElChile85 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 For Fall 2015 I will be applying for PhD programs after completing a BA in Political Science and a MA in Sociology. I have strong interests in social policy. Does anyone know of any PhD Sociology programs that place students well at Policy or Public Affairs Schools? Also, is a PhD in Sociology even a good path to take if that's my goal, or should I be aiming for a PhD in Policy/Public Affiars? Thanks so much!

From experience, I know that PhDs in Sociology are sought after by Public Policy schools and research centers (at least in the U.S.). I do not have data on program placement, but it is usually those PhDs coming from programs that are strong in policy-relevant areas (education, crime, health, urban soc, population, work) who are more likely to get those jobs.
