hbar Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I took my general GRE test 3 years ago and now I want to register and take a subject test, in the subject test registration I was asked to select 4 recipients without extra fee. I wonder if the scores are sent in this way, will my general test scores also be included? I am aware that ordering additional scores after the test will give me the option to send both at the same time. I sent the same question to ETS inquiry but they are not very quick at replying, so I post it here also. Thanks in advance!
Vene Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I imagine they will just send the scores for the test you take that day.
hbar Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 I imagine they will just send the scores for the test you take that day. emm, then I guess at the end of the day it won't save me any money. Thanks.
TakeruK Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I did this back in 2011, before ScoreSelect existed. Back then, when you select your 4 free schools on the subject test, there was a checkbox to tick off (or click) if you wanted your General Scores to be included too.

Thanks. the problem is that ETS kept returning "system error" after I selected the department code, so I guess I haven't reached to the stage where the checkbox you mentioned came in. TakeruK Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Thanks. the problem is that ETS kept returning "system error" after I selected the department code, so I guess I haven't reached to the stage where the checkbox you mentioned came in. I just tried to do this as an "additional score report" and this option is indeed after you select the department. You can tick off which scores you want to send and your options show both Subject and General scores. For the four free schools, you would only have the "most recent" or "all" options, not "any" but I think it should work out the same way. Hope it works after the system error goes away! hbar 1
hbar Posted July 25, 2014 Author Posted July 25, 2014 For later viewers who are interested, here's the reply I got from ETS: "You may only send scores for the particular test (General or Subject) for which you are registering. If you are registering to take the revised General Test, the options will not include reporting of Subject Test scores. Similarly, if you register to take a Subject Test, the options will not include reporting of General Test scores."
TakeruK Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Interesting. I guess they changed the rules with ScoreSelect (and basically mean that you have to pay ETS more money overall, surprise surprise); thanks for coming back with the official answer!
