fish0107 Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I recently took the GRE and received a 157 in Verbal, 153 in Quant, and 3.5 in Writing. I am applying to OSU and their "competitive" scores are 50th percentile and verbal and quant, and a 4.0 in writing. My undergrad GPA was a 3.08...not great. Since college, I have been working in a lab at OSU and I have gained SO much knowledge and experience. I will have great recommendations, and I am working on my personal statement. I am unsure if I should worry about retaking the GRE again to improve my writing score and possibly pull up my other scores.
bsharpe269 Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I would retake if I were you. Your GPA is on the lower side so good GRE scores could help your application a lot.
peachypie Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I'd also agree with bsharpe, I'd retake. You want either your GRE or your GPA to be able to speak to your abilities outside of the lab. A higher GRE score is easier to get then a higher GPA at this point, so try to improve on what you can. You have time so I'd use that if you can improve scores.
