Seeking military externships but only in an MS program

Hi All!

 

I really would appreciate some advice / guidance.  I am currently enrolled in a clinical psychology masters program.  I really want to perform my externship in relation to working with military families, etc.  However, the VA does not allow masters students to perform supervision, only doctoral candidates.  Does anyone have any recommendations on places I can search that will supervise me?  My school has no approved externship sites for the military, so I am completely on my own…

Hm. I'm going to look into this, myself. I was under the impression that people who had gone through my MS program had done work with the VA here. So, maybe after further investigation I can give some insight.

 

My husband also works in the military mental health system so maybe I can annoy him about it.

That would be amazing! Thank you so much!! I know MSW candidates are offered many supervision options with the VA and military, but I have not heard of many for MS Psyc candidates.  I really appreciate your assistance!
