My inbox has been dead silent.

so...no I don't know anything about that..

Considering recent stress levels I might need a heavier dose of Adventure Time

Oh gosh, guys, I didn't mean to freak you out!! This is all I know: a professor of mine at UC Berkeley told me (in relationship to my own application to the English department) that Classics and Comp Lit had already "sent out decisions," and that he was surprised the English department was so slow. :P I do NOT know if this means applicants have been notified, or if it simply means he sat on the adcomm and all that's left is the administration stuff.

In short, don't despair yet! But on the bright side, you should know VERY soon. :)

Meh. At this point I think I had already reached the highest level of freaking out even before I saw your intel, so don't worry :P

Ok, guys, let's all take collective deep breaths.  :)

On another note, is anyone sure how many schools interview for comp lit? I've gotten contacted for two so far (UT Austin and Penn State) and I wasn't even aware they had an interview policy in the first place. Maybe I'm just a suspicious applicant?

Who knows, I know that UChicago's English department started doing interviews this year, and they didn't in the past. I think the number of Comp Lit departments who interview are in the minority. I haven't heard from anyone, though, so maybe that's just me being hopeful.

Seriously freaking over here! But that can't be helped. I think some Giles gifs are in order.

Tell me more of what you know about USC. Did this friend get in this year to complit? Have results already went out? last year the notified really early but other years much later and I've heard nothing. Any info?

no, she was accepted to cornell and USC but chose cornell instead. so right now she doesn't know about usc processes.......

did you or anyone else here applied to USC this year? I think they are notifying late this year

I didn't, but I'm sure there are several who did!

It looks like UC Riverside and UC Irvine complit should be notifying soon too. Both schools seem to have notified around late Jan before, but both have also notified as late as Feb 15. I applied to both of those as well, and I would LOVE to attend either program.

So I was just on Berkeley's website and it says the application site will be down "for maintenance" on January 31st. So I guess that rules out hearing from them tomorrow, right?

from a friend in emory comp lit "usually there is only one round of interviewing, after which they make offers and waitlist others. the list of interviewees is already made. but sometimes they hold some candidates in reserve in case they need to go to a waitlist. these candidates are not usually interviewed."

so if we didn't make the interview list, I suppose that's it. Just letting all who are interested in emory comp lit know.

This is how I feel about all the Californian programmes that i've applied to... (and the rest too, but decisions from the Cal ones seem scarily close and yet frustratingly far)

I'm secretly hoping that maintenance means uploading results. Oh but let's just not get paranoid, eh?!

Right? Esp because the UC schools have their own bureaucracy, and funding is generally more complicated.

Thanks for the info on Emory.  I wonder if it is the same for UT Austin.  I have not heard anything from either one.  I think it is interesting that the percentage of acceptances are probably very low so a lot of very strong candidates don't get in.
