Vespasian Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Does SOPHAS really take up to 4 weeks to verify your gpa? I'm starting to sweat here my application was finally completed on 3/31/15 and my first deadline is 4/15 (transcript issues) Any words of encouragement or insight MUCH appreciated. Depends. I eSubmitted on 12/23/14 and was verified 12/29/14. Some people reported longer times- a few weeks.
aey619 Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 (edited) I took the GRE on July 2011 before they changed it and got a low 790. I needed at least a 900 to apply for SDSU. My GPA is a 2.97. It got bumped up by sophas to a 3.01 GPA. I only applied to 3 schools. Rejected at CSU FULLERTON MPH environmental health via email, accepted at CSU Los Angeles MS Healthcare Management, and no word yet from SDSU MPH management & policy. SDSU is a long shot, but why not try again right? I got into my backup, so I'm not stressing out anymore about not getting in anywhere. FYI, Fullerton and LA didn't require a GRE. prettykool1990 Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 I am a grad from UGA. Had a terrible GPA (2.2-2.4). I retook three of the classes I struggled in and did well and plan on taking more.. Decent GRE's and plan on retaking them. Currently I am researching at Emory (with publications in the pipeline) and a terrific mentor who is willing to pull through and recommend me to the school. After a lot of hardship (family illness, death, depression, and personal health issues) in my undergraduate years I knew I had to turn my life around. Since then I have done my very best to get an internship, work very hard in a research field, earn enough knowledge to get some publications. I plan on taking classes at public health school to show the admissions committee that my undergraduate grades don't necessarily show who I am to become in the future. With two years of research, above average-stellar GREs, retaking a lot of the classes I did not do well on and few graduate courses at the school I plan on applying to; do you think this will help me getting into MPH program? If not, what should I do to improve my chances of getting in? If yes, WHAT should I do to improve my chances of getting in?
