SOP length for NYU? (and Rutgers)

Hi all,

 

I am back with my questions about SOP length! Anyone applying to NYU? The general application websites says the length should be two pages double-spaced maximum (about 500 words), but I was wondering if that could be different for the Psychology Department, since the standard is a little bit longer. I emailed someone but did not hear back yet. What are you guys doing?

 

By the way, I also contacted Rutgers, and they really want 500 words max.

I'm glad I saw this thread! I was going to submit my standard ~1000 word SOP to NYU psych...

Just got back from NYU! It is 1000:

 

Use 1000 words (two pages single spaced).
