I'm so excited  can't wait to get the results from IHEID.

Is it true that average Student life in geneva is around 1700 € per month

or is it possible with less

I fee like emailing them to ask when we'd know.. haha So impatient!! Oh wow, Hawaii!!! Very jealous.. :) I haven't heard much about the student house really. I once spoke to a girl who lives there very briefly and she just said that it's a really good deal (the couple's apartment) and really nice.. So fingers crossed!

Yes, I'm originally from a tiny town between Fribourg and Bern. It feels weird to move 'back' since I have lived in Australia pretty much my whole adult life. Wow, Lugano is beautiful! What were you doing there?

Thats great the couples apartment is such a good deal! Fingers crossed for you to get it.

I did my undergraduate degree in Lugano. It is truly beautiful there! I'm in very much the same mindset I left Hawaii when I was 18, so I haven't lived in same country as anyone in my family for about 7 years! Thankfully, my sister is living in Lugano now, so I'm just so excited to be so close to her.

Anyway if I remember correctly, we should be hearing about the housing results later this week? Do you think they will actually wait until the 28th to tell us? Hope its sooner rather than later

I feel really behind not having applied for early admission now... -_- lol but to answer the question about living costs in geneva, my boyfriend pays 950 fr. a month for a room in a shared flat that is small but has sizable shared spaces and a balcony so "cheap" accommodation is possible. We've had friends that have done it for less. A week of groceries is going to be around 50-60 fr. per person if you are willing to cook all meals at home but it is doable. Public transportation passes are 70 fr/month but I heard the yearly pass just dropped in price to 500 fr. If you buy the yearly pass then you also get deals on events and activities to do in the area.

Now they sent some more details about the type of unit & price. One concern: the offer says that they require the deposit by March 15... but aren't we getting scholarship decisions by late March?

Hey are you applying for a single-space? What are the prices? Just curious, still waiting for my decision..

I got a single room with private bathroom for CHF 10,200 (one year lease from Sep 1st). That makes it CHF 850 a month. No information on floor or whether it is a 2 or 4 person apartment. They are asking for a CHF 1000 deposit. I would like to wait about the scholarship results before accepting, though. I also wonder how they choose flatmates...

Yeah well I hope if I get accepted I get a spot at Piciotto as well, I can't deal with the stress of finding a place to stay as well. It's good that you get your own bathroom too. It is expensive, but at the same time it is a safe investment - I have lived abroad before and jesus do people try to rip your money off you, I don't trust anyone anymore when it comes to leases and landlords.

I'm curious if anyone on here was put on a waiting list for the first round. I'm obviously fretting over admissions and it really just hit me we could be waiting as late as April 30th

If anyone was, did they list any particular reasons or have interesting wording with their announcement that your status was changed to waiting list?

We were offered a 'deluxe' couple's apartment for CHF 2,500 per month, which we obviously can't afford! I was wondering if they try to get rid of their expensive ones in the first round? Or maybe I'm just being a bit pessimistic about their intentions. :)

Possibly. I inquired with them about the possibility of getting a cheaper unit, but they told me they had nothing left (only studio apartments) for now. They also said that there would be another round of applications, beginning soon. I suppose that many units are already taken by current students. On the plus side, the student housing office is very quick to answer any questions.

Yes I also contacted them about this, also because they kind of stuffed up my preferences.. Hopefully it'll work out, otherwise there are lots of other (cheaper) options around as well, such as Cité, Foyer etc.

Hey guys,

Has anyone found the link to pay for the pre-registration fees?

I got in during the early round of admissions. Am now waiting for the scholarships results, which should come out today or tomorrow.

Hey zinger, the invoice will be available once the second round notifications have been sent out I assume. But if you want you could probably already pay since it has the amount and payment method on the website.

Any other MIA students around? :)
