gallfreak Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 I'm applying to an MFA program in dramaturgy at Columbia and in addition to the SOP, I have to write a brief autobiography. This is the prompt: Brief autobiography: Approximately 500 words summarizing the applicant's life and theatrical experience. I'm kind of stumped as to how to approach this. Should I go at it as if it's more of a personal history/diversity statement? Thanks for any input.
GCool Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Well dramaturgy is drama composition, isn't it? Why don't you write some melodramatic monologue explaining your life, ending with "Plot twist: I'm M. Night Shyamalan" GCool and gallfreak 1 1
rising_star Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 More of a personal history statement. It's supposed to be autobiographical and tell them about who you are and your experience. It's not the same as a SOP and shouldn't repeat your academic interests. gallfreak 1
GCool Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 I see someone left their sense of humor at home...
