holybatman Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Both of these PhD programs are not accepting applications, does anyone know the official status of either one, I'm sure Tulane is doing some rebuilding after Katrina but I wouldn't know about Miami, they seem to have decent faculty and certainly have a good undergraduate reputation but I never see them in any rankings or anything.
DrRockso Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Tulane had a very solid program, from my understanding, prior to Katrina. I asked a faculty member there during my app process for a time-frame regarding a return to granting PhDs, and was told not to hold my breath. Miami(OH) I know nothing about in terms of grad programs. Dwar 1
BrunoPuntzJones Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I'm fairly certain I heard that Tulane was ending their PhD program a few years back. I'm less certain (but believe) I heard a similar -- more recent -- rumor regarding Miami (OH). I don't think you'd be out of line in either case to e-mail a faculty member of those schools inquiring about the status of their programs.
bbc9904 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Miami (OH) has for the time being suspended their PhD program in political science. There is the possibility of a restart in the future, but for now that is highly doubtful.
PeaceDoc Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 To expand ^... Word is that is was temporarily suspended given financial problems. Quite a few depts which I am aware of were forced to change admissions this year given the economic environment.
