I tried to make a poll about nonclinical interviews...not sure if it worked. But basically, I want to know:

1) If you are/were a nonclinical applicant, did your program do in-person interviews, phone/Skype interviews, or no interviews?

2) If you had in-person interviews were the costs covered completely, not at all, or partially?

1) My program did both phone interviews and am attending an in-person recruitment day for one program.

2) The costs are going to be completely covered for the in-person interview, but it's a reimbursement type of deal.

I applied to both Clinical and Counseling programs. So far I've received 1 invitation to interview and that was for a Counseling program. My POI called me out of the blue to tell me the good news and inform me about the interviews. The program is holding an informal dinner on 02/01 and then the interview day is all day 02/02; they're offering housing and most meals during the interviews, but I'm paying for my flight. They said they may be able to subsidize part of the flight cost later but he didn't want to make any promises. I received the official email invitation a few weeks later.

I didn't apply to clinical programs!

1) All of the psychology/cognitive science programs I'm applying to do interviews.

2) I've gotten two interview invites so far; one program covers all ground travel and up to a certain amount for air travel (it will completely cover my plane ticket); the other program partially reimburses travel (I will end up spending ~$75 out of pocket). Also, as Dedi mentioned, it's reimbursement, so I won't be seeing that money for a long time probably...

1) Not all of my programs do interviews. Two do not, and I have already visited both. I had a Skype chat and a phone chat with two other programs (neither was called an interview). No other phone or Skype interviews/chats.

2) I've received 2 official interview invites (one was the Skype chat) and 1 that is "very likely" but not made official yet (had a phone chat with POI at this one). The first is not within driving distance, and they are covering $500 of travel costs (which will cover all of my flight and some accommodation). The second is within driving distance, and they are compensating me for all mileage, one night at a hotel, and all food costs. Obviously still awaiting info on the unofficial invite.

I'm applying to Developmental programs!

1) Everywhere I'm applying does in-person interviews

2) For 3 out of the 4 schools I'm visiting, the costs are covered completely (though that is because one of them is within driving distance; if I were flying from say, the East Coast, it'd be partial). The 4th is partially covered and I will end up paying about $16 out of pocket, which is fine by me. However, everything is operating on a reimbursement system - so I'm significantly poorer for now than I'd like to be.
